In the late 90s I rode my bike through New York City and I thought, it was rather demanding. But this experience did not prepare me for traffic in Cairo. I was amazed, when I sat in the taxi on my way to the hotel: 4lane roads made place for 7 cars next to each other, donkeys, camels, limousines, mini-busses, families sitting on one motor scooter, taxis are constantly honking. „This is the music of Cairo“, the driver explained. Making my way through traffic over the next few days, I tried to get a feel for the culture, heritage and the history of this breathtaking city. Here are some images of my journey.
